Scarlett Johansson, American actress (born on November 22, 1985 in New York City New York) is well-known for her ability to act across different various genres from period dramas to thrillers to action adventures. Johansson is the daughter of an architect and producer was brought up in New York City. Her twin brother Hunter as well as her mother were the youngest siblings. At the age of seven year old, she started making auditions for TV commercials. She became interested in acting quickly and she enrolled soon after to the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. When she was eight, she appeared together with Ethan Hawke in the Off-Broadway production Sophistry and, at the age of nine she made her debut in film with Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson subsequently starred in Just Cause (1995), however, her breakthrough occurred through Manny & Lo a coming of age drama about sisters fleeing. In The Horse Whisperer, Johansson played a teenage victim of an horrific crash. The role she played in Ghost World brought her more fame as the outcast teen Rebecca. It was a Dannon yogurt TV commercial. Much like many other new actresses, she chose to develop her talent in theatre. She was involved in various USA productions while making her debut on stage in the company of Wildflower. She studied at the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory, part of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
